Job Description

At SUSE we’re building open source software that addresses the operational and security challenges of managing cloud native platforms like Kubernetes, while providing DevOps teams with integrated tools for running containerized workloads. Our Rancher product has over 100 million downloads to-date and is managing mission critical services at Fortune 500 companies and many other organizations large and small around the world.

The Rancher UI/UX engineering team is looking for a UX Designer to help design our web-based Kubernetes management tools. Curiosity and good teamwork are two of the values that drive us as a team. If you are passionate about these values too, you are likely a great fit for us. As a team, we're constantly finding ways to improve ourselves. We pride ourselves on our communication and teamwork – we're all in this together!

Our ideal candidate is passionate about user experience and in designing tools that present complex technologies in easily understandable ways and make performing key tasks an intuitive process.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor or Master's degree in UX Design, HCI, a related field or equivalent experience

Knowledge and Skills

At Least 3 Years’ UX Design Experience

  • Experience with Figma or similar

  • Proven experience creating user experience artefacts based on user journeys and personas such as mock-ups, wireframes, prototypes, and specifications

  • Experience providing UX design for data-rich applications with complex underlying technologies

  • Experience working with backend teams, Product Management, and other key stakeholders to understand requirements and limitations in order to provide optimal user experience

  • Experience working with customers to understand core use cases and requirements

  • Experience and/or interest in Agile methodologies, e.g. using GitHub or other system for tracking work

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker containers

  • Experience with open source development

  • Experience working with a distributed team.
